Looks good... at first. After one summer it was a RUSTBUCKET. See our Pics!
We purchased this as a gift for our 18 month old daughter. It was her first bike. We have had it just over a year. The first spring/summer, she could only reach the pedals partially, so she couldn't complete a full pedaling "cycle" but we expected that. She liked to "scoot" around on it on the sidewalk and sit on the back "deck." We stored it under the wide eaves of our front porch (covered, out of weather) whenever it rained, and before the winter came (we are in Illinois) it went inside to a cement floored garage. Before the end of the first spring/summer (even under a covered location) it started to rust. I was concerned. Especially because we have two very "original" red and white trikes from an auction that were easily from the 50's and 60's, and they sat in the same location for the same duration and don't have a spot of rust, not to mention the years they spent "wherever" before we purchased them used.

By the time this spring came and we got them out of storage in the garage, I was SADLY disappointed in the darkening, cracking, and staining in the back deck, and the rusting all over the bike, from the handlebars down to the rims and the tire spokes. Another thing that I noticed was that despite how meticulous I am when applying decals (I'm a perfectionist I tell you!) the S decal on the seat (looks cool, eh? yep, just a sticker) was peeling off in less than 2 months after purchase.

At 2.5 years old, our daughter is just now able to reach the pedals, but doesn't seem as interested as she is in the regular styled trikes. She would rather scoot along in a cozy coupe or on an old tricyle than sit on this one, although I frequently see her sitting on the back deck with a stuffed animal, chatting away.

If you want comments about how cool the trike looks, this is the one to buy. I can't give it 1 or 2 stars because it is SO sharp and that's why we bought it. That and because we trusted the Schwinn name. Well..... so much for that idea. This trike TRULY proves that they don't make them like they used to!!!!!

Upon purchase/arrival I did notice that the "chrome" was much more of a coating and was imperfect throughout- not like it had been damaged, but like that was the quality that it was made with. Please consider if you want something that lasts, or something that looks good and that you will be throwing out before long because it has rusted to bits :( I think it was more fun for us than her, and I feel badly now for picking it out. We even bought the red instead of the pink so that her younger brother could ride it in the future.... I don't know if it will hold up that long!

I just brought it inside and took a bunch of pictures so you can see exactly what it will look like after one summer in a covered location and one winter in the garage. Questions please ask :)

Will not get off!
We ordered this trike for our daughters second birthday. My husband had it put together quickly and easily. He allowed her to try it "one time" befor putting it away for her party. She has not willingly gotten off it since that point, even though we still have a few days till her party. She is a real tomboy and loves racing around, trying to run things over and taking corners. I love the fact that the tires are large and durable, very good for going over lawns. And the wooden back step is lovely and a lot wider then I was thinking it would be which was nice. I would deffinently recommend this to anyone looking for a great spunky trike! MamaCass

Awesome Product
I almost didn't buy this product after reading about the quality problems. I have had NONE of the problems listed - and my daughter LOVES this trike! It looks great, assembly was easy!

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has a little trouble with the pedals, but more because of coordination than not being able to reach the pedals.

Don't even question yourself, it's worth it
I bought this tricycle for my 2 year old's birthday.
It is a huge hit.
I wanted something sturdy and durable and this bike reminded me of the tricycle I had when growing up- Way to go Schwinn!!!!

My little guy took right to it. It was an EZ transition to go from a push ride on toy to pedal this bike because of the seat and handle bar adjustments. He loves the little bell.
Also this was simple to assemble and arrived without a scratch. I purchased the blue and chrome and man, it's sleek. My little guy and I assembled it together which was part of the fun--> He got to help.

I'm so glad I purchased this. When we come home after a long day, he puts his helmet on and wants to ride his bike. When he needs a little push, I hold onto the outside of the handle bars and step on the back plate and push off of it like a scooter--like I said, it's sturdy and durable. I've already gotten compliments from other parents who have seen us out 'riding.'
We will get a lot of use out of this bike and are making priceless memories together.

Over hill, over dale - he can hit the trail!
It was the Third Birthday present I was dreaming of for our son; luckily, he loved it too! I choose this because of our rugged New Hampshire terrain and gravel driveway. I wanted our son to have fun and success driving all over the yard; over rocks, in & out of dips and up hills. A two wheeler with training wheels would have only served to frustrate him. We can save that for later - as for now he is having a BLAST! It is especially nice that the seat can be adjusted closer and further from the pedals. Our guy is in the less than tenth percentile for height, so it was a relief when his feet did reach the pedals. We could not resist our excitement and gave him his present a week early, so he has been enjoying it for over a month now. Suddenly "red" is his official favorite color.
